Aman Mehta is the Secretary Treasurer and communication officer for the Peel Elementary Teachers Local. A lifelong Peel resident, Aman attended its public schools and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from nearby public institutions.
Aman cares deeply about elementary educators and safeguarding their day-to-day jobs. In a day of radical social change, Aman serves on countless Local Union committees such as the Anti-Racism and Equity Committee and chairs the local Finance Committee.
On the Provincial front, Aman serves as the alternate delegate to the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario’s [ETFO] Anti Racism and Equity Committee. He has co-authored social justice curriculum for ETFO, which he now delivers throughout the province to help combat issues such as racialized hiring, promotion and the unjust treatment of teachers throughout Ontario.
A fierce unionist and advocate for his profession, Aman has fought for policies in support of public education and educators from early in his career. More than 15 years ago, he dedicated his life to educating elementary school children and serving his Peel community and has never looked back.
