Pink Attitude 2016

Guests were invited to the beautiful Dreams Convention Centre on Friday, April 15th, 2016 beginning at 6:30PM to show their support towards the changing attitudes of the modern day woman. Pink Attitude Evolution celebrates women that shatter through barriers, while inspiring and empowering others to be prominent leaders regardless of age, gender, orientation, race, religion, or abilities. Pink Attitude Evolution also recognizes the valiant efforts of men in encouraging and supporting these women.

This event was featured as an award presentation ceremony as well as donations to local charities. It was hosted by emcee Gurdeep Ahluwalia from TSN SportsCentre and co-hosted by Jake Dheer from Rogers and Angie Seth from Global News. Attendees were treated to a keynote speech by Toronto sports legend Michael “Pinball” Clemons. Buffet-style dinner and appetizers were also served.


Seema Gill

Breast Cancer Survivor

Seema Gill was diagnosed with breast cancer after the birth of her first daughter. From getting married, to having a child, to being diagnosed to being told it was unlikely she would become pregnant again, was the shock and reminder her system needed. So Seema and her husband packed up and took a spiritual journey, seeking healing, and miraculously, less than two years after undergoing chemotherapy in February, 2012, she returned with a miracle of life.

Jaswant’s Kitchen is a Toronto based family business run by Jaswant Kular and 3 her daughters. Jaswant’s Kitchen produces all natural Indian spice blends along with easy to follow recipes that make it extremely easy to whip up delicious, authentic Indian food in a quick and easy way. The concept began as a way for Jaswant to pass along the tradition of cooking Indian food at home, from scratch, to her kids, who were starting their own families.

Nancy Sahota

Co-Founder of The Peacock Parade Inc.

Nancy Sahota co-founded a Canadian e-commerce business called The Peacock Parade in 2011 after becoming an avid shopper of US etailers during her 6 year stay in New York City. She recently launched her new endeavour called The Shoppes Online, a digital shopping mall for contemporary designers, and are collaborating with a community of designers to create a platform that empowers designers to have a meaningful online presence that they can monetize.

Pooja Handa

CP24 Breakfast Co-host, Anchor

Pooja Handa has been a CP24 Anchor since 2008, and in April 2011 she became a Co-Host of CP24 BREAKFAST WEEKENDS, before moving to the weekday Breakfast show in 2014. Torontonians have come to know Handa as one of the faces greeting them every morning with news that will help them start their day. Handa has covered everything from politics to entertainment, including the annual Toronto International Film Festival and the 40th Anniversary of the JUNO AWARDS in Toronto.

Sanjiv Jagota

Sanjiv is the President and CEO of Nature’s Source Inc. and publisher of the Integrated Healthcare Practitioners newsletter. The chain currently has four stores in the Greater Toronto Area as well as having temporary locations at events in the area as well as accepting order through their website. He studied microbiology and organic chemistry at Humber College and York Uniiversity.

Deep Saini is the Vice-President of the University of Toronto and Principal (chief executive) of the University of Toronto Mississauga, where he is also a Professor of Biology. Since his arrival at the University of Toronto Mississauga in 2010, he has led major expansion and internationalization of enrolment, and overseen a $230 million expansion of facilities, launch of the Mississauga Academy of Medicine, the Institute for Management and Innovation, the Centre for South Asian Civilizations, and the Professional Accounting Centre. He was featured in India Abroad’s “2011 Power List” and is the recipient of a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Gaurav Upadhya is Senior Vice President, Product & Insurance Risk Management at Manulife. Gaurav is responsible for the company’s global risk management framework with respect to product development, pricing, underwriting and claims management. He joined Manulife in 1997 and has held actuarial and risk management roles of increasing seniority in Reinsurance, Corporate and US Divisions, including in valuation, risk oversight, pricing, business development and capital management. During his career at Manulife, he has also worked extensively with internal committees charged with the recruitment and development of actuarial professionals.

Michael Pinball Clemons

American-Canadian Vice-Chair, Toronto Argonauts

Michael “Pinball” Clemons is an icon of sporting excellence, community leadership, personal character and integrity. The Economics graduate is the pro-football world record holder in all purpose yards which earned him induction into the CFL Hall of Fame. He was also the first black head coach to win the Grey Cup in its 98 years, but is probably better known for his off the field exploits. Pinball is the founder of his own foundation whose most noteworthy project to date is building over 200 schools in third world countries over five years. The author, philanthropist and entrepreneur is currently the vice-chair of the Toronto Argonauts. Also a member of the distinguished Order of Ontario, Mike’s proudest accomplishment is to be the husband of Diane, and the father of Rachel, Raven and Rylie.

Gurdeep Ahluwalia has been an anchor on TSN’s SPORTSCENTRE since 2013, bringing viewers the most up-to-date news from the world of sports. He also served as a CP24 news anchor throughout the week since 2009. He has a wide range of broadcasting experience, including anchoring duties for the CP24 Olympic Desk, federal and provincial elections, and the G20 in Toronto. Before becoming an award winning on-air personality, Ahluwalia held production positions with The Score and The Hockey News.

Angie Seth // Fireside Chat

Seth began her broadcasting career as a reporter for OMNI television upon graduating from the University of Toronto, with a bachelor’s degree in political science, English, and philosophy. While with OMNI, she worked in various positions in the newsroom, ultimately landing a position as anchor of South Asian News in 2006. She also produced two entertainment programs, Ishtyle TV and Bollywood Blvd. Seth has won several awards including the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for her work as a journalist and contributions in the community.

Jake served as Chairman of Carassauga in 2001 and 2002, Mississauga Board Of Trade in 2008, Mayor Hazel McCallion’s Gala for the Arts, Culture and Heritage in 2010, Sheridan College’s Big Picture Gala in 2010 and 2012 and Heritage Mississauga’s annual awards in 2013 – 2016. He is also the Honourary Chairman for the Alzheimer Society of Peel. Jake’s enthusiastic stage presence has led him to emcee several high profile occasions in the GTA and has often been asked to be the Keynote Speaker at numerous events around the region.
